Booster Packs
Now that I’ve gotten the procedural generation system working, I've moved on to working on the Booster Pack system. In short, Booster Packs are packs of cards which players can buy, they are priced based on their tier (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum). Different packs guarantee different types and rarities of cards. The contents of a pack are generated in real-time based on the properties of the pack, as opposed to having predefined contents that give players the same cards with each purchase.
I also did some work with having the cards animate on screen during a pack opening in hopes of making players excited to open packs. I’m not completely satisfied with where it’s at right now, it feels a bit choppy and plain, I have plans to revisit it during the polish faze and give it a better feel. My next steps are to revisit the procedural generation and experiment with the parameters so that good, playable levels are generated for each play-through. I also need to refine some of the calculations that determine how many objects a single card will spawn and other procgen relevant calculations.
